>Quote of the week:
The first scenario [of the future] holds out the grim prospect of a
retribalization of large swaths of humankind by war and bloodshed: a
threatened balkanization of nation-states in which culture is pitted
against culture, people against people, tribe against tribe, a Jihad in
name of a hundred narrowly conceived faiths against every kind of
interdependence, against modernity itself as well as the future in which
modernity issues. The second paints that future in shimmering pastels, a
busy
portrait of onrushing economic, technological, and ecological forces
that demand integration and uniformity and that mesmerize peoples
everywhere with fast music, fast computers, and fast food--MTV,
Macintosh, and McDonald's pressing nations into one homogenous global
theme park, one McWorld tied together by communications, information,
entertainment, and commerce......Benjamin R. Barber

[12.18.96 - It's Christmas Time In Hollis Queens ]
>Well, Finals are done, my term paper is finished and The Campus News is done publishing for the semester. Scottsdale Community College is closing tomorrow and the Syndinet mainframe is still in the shop. So basically this is the last update for the foreseeable future. Enjoy the game. And have a Merry-FUCKING-Christmas!
[12.18.96 - The Blind Leading the Unguided ]
>That little minx, Mike Diskett has released another cheat for Syndicate Wars. This time, you can play as a punk rocker ! NO WAIT! That's an unguided punk by altering your DOS .exe command (or something) . For full details, check out Lord Anarchy's SWAT page.

[12.16.96 - The Shape Of Things To Come]

Some of you may have noticed there hasn't been a lot of new information
available on this site as of late. I do still get a lot e-mail
asking for tips, strategies, and wht I haven't been updating tips and
strategies. Well, aside from being bogged down with the end of the
semester at college - and all of the various papers and projects due - the Syndinet mainframe
has been down and I've been logging in and updating at various
locations. Plus, a general feeling of malaise about the site has been
coming through from the numerous requests for cheats that I've been
getting.
>True, it is nice to have an escape from endless hours of banging your head against the wall in Syndicate Wars pagesI'm
planning to offer areas for Fan Fiction - and even create some of my
own - as well as space for rants related to Syndicate or Bullfrog in
general. Plus, I'd like to overhaul the site graphically - or at least
spice it up and organize it better. Basically it's all you've wanted
from a Synidcate site and more. Coming soon.
[12.12.96 - Hell has frozen over - SW cheats released by Bullfrog]
Syndicate Wars' Lead DirectorMicheal Diskett broke radio silence today and gave SW fans what they have been pleading for: cheats. More specifically, cheats to add at the DOS prompt. which do everything you would like them to do: alter energy, weapons and research. He was kind enough to e-mail them to the various Syndicate Wars pages,
so be sure to thank himk. I know I did. Try them out, after all...it's
what you've BEEN ASKING FOR OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS!!!!DAMN
YOUUUUUUUUUU....ahem.

[12.3.96 - Bullfrog updates SW site with more goodies, no cheats]
Bullfrog's web site
has been updated following an extended period of...ehem, withdrawl.
Unfortunately it is not with the various cheats and cracks for Syndicate
Wars that fans are clamoring for. Instead, they have offered up something "unique." A 60-second long trailer(in .avi format) for SW as well as a "banned" radio commercial
are up for you to download. As to what specifically makes this ad so
controversial, I'll get back to you on this, and in the future will zip
the .wav files and a transcript for your convenience (sic). The trailer
is basically the SW intro mixed with title cards of features and
critical praise (with a couple of clips of intense game footage to
boot). Nothing any hardened SW fan hasn't seen before, but it's still
fun to watch. In fact, I have it running in loop mode as I write this.
Ahhh...multitasking. No indication of when, or if Bullfrog will post
cheats or walkthroughs as fans continue
to plead and speculate as to wherabouts of said cracks. I do love
checking out the EA message board and seeing all the pleas. I hope that
someday we can all settle down and enjoy the game.
[12.3.96 - 10,000 Syndicate Maniacs]
Okay. I hate to pad myself and this site endlessly, but according to our friends at the Internet Link Exchange, Syndinet has been visited by over 10,000 browsers since I put this thing up in June. I know that in the grand scheme of the World Wide Web this little milestone won't amount to a hill of mini-gun's
but to me it means some thing....dammit. So to all of you who have come
here, thanks. I love you all. I know, I know. The only thing on you
mind is: "WHERE ARE THE FUCKING CHEATS!". Someday, someday they'll be here and then where will you be, eh?
